Fundamental Aquatic Skills: Step or jump into water, fully submerge and hold breath, rotary breathing, front, jellyfish and tuck floats, treading water, change direction of travel
Safety Focus: Staying safe around water, recognizing lifeguards, recognizing an emergency, how to call for help, look before you leap, think so you don't sink, the danger of drains
Intermediate
Stroke Development: Jump into deep water and submerge, headfirst entry in seated and kneeling positions, bobbing while moving, survival float, back float, tread water, change from vertical to horizontal position, push off in streamlined position, swim front crawl, elementary backstroke, flutter, scissor, breaststroke, and dolphin kicks
Stroke Improvement: Headfirst entry in compact and stride positions, feetfirst surface dive, swim underwater, tread water using different kicks, survival swimming
Safety Focus: Think twice before going near cold water or ice, developing breath control safely, making good decisions, choosing an exit point, reaching and throwing assist, recreational water illnesses, think so you don't sink
Advanced
Stroke Refinement: shallow-angle dive into deep water, tuck surface dive, pike surface dive, tread water using legs only, sculling
Advanced Options: Surface dive and retrieve objects from bottom (7-10 feet deep)
Safety Focus: How to call for help, the importance of knowing first aid and CPR, dangers of hyperventilation and extended breath-holding
